Masinagudi Jeep Safari

This adventurous activity is organised by the forest department and it is perfect for people who want to engage in some kind of adventurous activities while they are in this place. In this jeep safari, you get to witness the jawdropping beauty of the wildlife forest, some of the real and most beautiful species and other natural habitats.

This particular activity takes two hours and can be done at any time from 5 AM to 5:30 PM. It is advisable that minimum of five people are required for this Safari.

Maravakandy Dam

This particular dam was built in 1951 and it is covered with lush green vegetation and it is situated near Moyar river. This dam along with splendid landscape and a river flowing by side, creates a beautiful image that gets imprinted in our mind.

There are also many huge and beautiful trees along with a clear blue sky and this together creates an aura that is very peaceful and relaxing. Besides this dam, there is also an animal watching tower from where you can view some jaw-dropping landscapes, birds and animals. Animals that live nearby come to this dam to drink water and if someone visits in the morning, it’s a good chance that they will sport tigers and elephants.

Madumalai Wildlife Sanctuary

This is one of the reasons why most of the tourists come to Masinagudi. This tropical sanctuary houses innumerable flora and fauna that are taken care by the wildlife officials. Most of the trees here are deciduous and this park also has many endangered wildlife species such as Bengal Tiger, leopard, etc. Though this forest is mostly deciduous forest but it also has tropical dry thorn tree species. The best time to visit the centuries from December to June and if you are lucky you’ll get a chance to witness the famous Bengal Tiger and many other exotic animals and birds.

Timing: Jeep Safari – 6:30 AM to 9 AM and 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM
              Elephant safari – 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

Moyar River

Moyar River is just 7 km from Masinagudi and it separates Bandipur National Park and Mudumalai wildlife century. This river is the tributary of Bhavani river and if you visit this river, you can actually set up a camp next to the river and enjoy the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere that it offers .

This river has beautiful biodiversity along its bank and it is perfect for people who want to take photographs. Many wildlife animals like tiger, elephant, etc come in the morning to drink water from this river. One can also try fishing and boating in Moyar River.

Theppakadu Elephant Camp

This camp is very close to Masinagudi and has many Asian elephants. These elephants have been trained to entertain the tourists and one can book elephant safari to enjoy the natural beauty of the place. It is also very close to Mudumalai wildlife sanctuary.

This elephant camp is the oldest camp in whole Asia and it is maintained by Tamil Nadu Forest department. This camp is suitable for people of all age groups; be it children, adults, elderly.

Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta

This is a hill that is located in Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka. It is situated at a height of 1450 m and Bandipur national Park is located on the highest peak of this hill. The best time to visit this place is from July to February and it is open from 8:30 AM to 4 PM every day.

There is also an old fort in the hill that is believed to have been constructed in the 13th century. There is also a Gopala Swamy Temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. This place is 220 km from Bengaluru and 80 km is from Mysore and 41km from Masinagudi.

Bandipur National Park and Tiger Reserve

This particular Park who established in 1974 and it is located 15 km from Masinagudi. Inside the park one can witness Asian elephants, sloth bears, and other endangered species of tigers.

This particular Tiger reserve is situated in Karnataka and according to the 2018 tiger census, it has second largest population of tigers in India after Madhya Pradesh. This area has river Kabini in the north and river Moyar to its South. The annual temperature of this place ranges from 10°C to 35°C. It has the largest population of wild Asian elephants in South Asia and the other species of attraction include the Bengal Tiger, sloth Bear, golden jackal, four horned antelope, mugger crocodile, etc.

Glenmorgan

This is a small village located at a distance of 25 km is from Ooty. This place is famous for tea plantations and include some of the oldest tea estates in the region known as Glenmorgan tea estate. The place is located at an elevation of 2400 m and presents a perfect view of natural beauty.

It is located at a distance of 25 km is from Ooty and the nearest bus station is Ooty itself and the nearest airport is Coimbatore Airport which is 125 km away.
