Tripura - The land of Maharajas, pretty palaces, lakes and temples

Agartala

It is the capital city of Tripura. Its famous for its varied terrains that are full lush green and also the beautiful valley. Notable attractions is Ujjayanta Palace built by Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya in 1899. 

Amarpura 

This place is a perfect picnic spot. Local people come here during the weekends with friends and family and spend day on the bank of Amar Sagar Dam. 

Melaghar 

It is located 50km from Agartala. It is famous for Neermahal which is located in the middle of Rudrasagar Lake.  Durga Puja is also clebrated here with great pomp and show. 

Kailashahar 

Located near the border of Bangladesh and is known for its famous Durga Puja festival. Other famous attractions are Lakhi Narayan Bari and Chouddo Devotar Temple, tea estates around the town, etc.  

Dharamnagar 

Its the second largest city in Tripura and its known for beautiful landscapes. Temperature here is mild but rainfall is quite heavy. Famous attractions are Haflong tea garden, Unakoti ancient site, etc 

Udaipur 

It is famous for Sundari Temple and other artificial lakes around it. The place is located 55km from Agartala and some famous artificial lakes include Dhani Sagar, Bijoy Sagar, Jagannath Dighi, Amar Sagar. 

Ambassa 

Famous for its ancient temples, splendid landscapes and rich culture, Ambassa makes it one of the most beautiful destinations to include in the list. 

Jampui Hills 

Located at an altitude of 1000m from the sea level, this place has many beautiful valley, sceneries, etc. Top visiting places are Ujjayanta Palace, Sepahijala Wildlife sanctuary, and Chittagong Hills.
