Langza Buddha statue: Guardian of the village!

A gigantic statue of Buddha guards the little hamlet of Langza. The statue holds utmost importance for the villagers as it is believed that the Buddha guards them against evil spirits.  The golden statue is more than 1000 years old, and you can get the spectacle view at night, between 12AM to 1AM, during the star shower. 

Village of Giu:   Visit the mummy!

The snow-laden peaks of the  Trans-Himalayas surround the small village of Giu. This village of 250 people has a famous resident: the self-mummified body of Lama Kambo or Sangha Tenzin. Lama Kambo continues to sit in a meditating posture, protecting the village of Giu.

Key Gompa or Key Monastery - The home to 100 Lamas!

The Key Monastery stands overlooking the Spiti Valley, located on top of a hill at an altitude of 13,668 ft It is the largest and oldest monastery in Spiti valley and is a religious training center for lamas.  Visiting here will give you a sense of peace by being surrounded by the lamas.
